A Continental/Chinese Commi 1 (Chef) is an entry-level kitchen position focused on assisting chefs in preparing both Continental and Chinese dishes. This role involves food preparation, cooking, and presentation, with a focus on following recipes, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation: Prepping ingredients (vegetables, meats, etc.), following recipes, and ensuring consistent quality in dishes.
• Cooking: Preparing dishes according to standard recipes and presentation specifications, including various continental and Chinese cuisines.
• Station Management: Maintaining a clean and organized workstation, stocking supplies, and reporting low stock levels.
• Hygiene and Safety: Following hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP or local regulations) and ensuring proper food storage.
• Team Support: Working with senior chefs, assisting other sections, and accepting feedback for improvement.
• Learning and Development: Learning new recipes and cooking techniques, staying updated on trends, and participating in training sessions.
